Spring / Summer 2016 Inspiration: Liquid Life
Our SS2016 Collection was built around the idea of the 'Liquid Life,' created by sociologist Zygmunt Bauman who describes our current way of life as liquid rather than solid. Our existence has become about constant reinvention and our reality becomes blurred between the real and the digital as we increasingly meander between the two in the pursuit of interesting personal image creations. It’s a celebration of texture and layering and it conveys the juxtaposed imagery of ‘anything goes!’ [caption id="attachment_5286" align="aligncenter" width="490"] Liquid Life visual inspiration, photo by Yuval Hen[/caption] Our material choices are an emphasis this season. We layer multiple textures in monochrome stories. Working with a variety of leathers in tejus, watercolour, and cross hatch, we intersperse them with smooth veg tan leathers, washed grain effect and nubuk often in an overall white wash or grey wash translucency. And we sample some lovely short fiber recycled papers for platform covers. We intermixed our materials with straight lines in inset heels. From platforms to flatforms to flats, from volume to single soles, from heels to wedges, it is a range of high comfort and inclusion.
