A STRONG AND COORDINATED BOND
A very active text chain is the secret to keeping a strong bond despite time and geography! Plus we all make an effort to be together or go on a trip together at least once a year.
Coordinating for an impact may have begun with Sarah’s wedding – we performed an elaborate dance in matching Dickies jumpsuits. From then on, matching outfits during major life moments kind of became what we do for each other. Serena didn't need official bridesmaids at her wedding, because we all showed up in bright orange. And frankly, it’s convenient to easily spot one another in a crowd.
In 2018 Greta invited us to join her at the Oscars and we surprised her by wearing matching outfits. This was so fun we did it again in 2020, and again in 2024. I suppose we’re all just getting started.
It felt very organic – there's a willingness to put one’s ego aside in favor of the group. Would each person make this fashion choice on their own? Probably not. Taken together, we’re a force and there's a momentum that takes hold. Everyone hates it (alone) until everyone loves it (together).
We’ve been all around the globe and to lots of special events, but nothing beats sitting on the floor and chatting all night.
